Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (X)

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a turn-based survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. You awaken with hazy memories of violence and terror as the world suddenly unravelled around you. Now you must explore your surroundings and secure food, water, and safety. The world is harsh, persistent, and procedurally generated, offering a unique challenge with every playthrough.

Scavenge the remnants of a dead civilization for food, equipment, or, if you are lucky, a vehicle with a full tank of gas to escape. Fight to defeat or escape from a wide variety of powerful monstrosities, from zombies to giant insects to killer robots and things far stranger and deadlier. You must also contend with other survivors who want what you have.

Long-term survival means tapping abilities you haven't used before, learning to survive in this new environment, and developing new skills. The game features tilesets, sound, localization, and mod support, and is backwards compatible with desktop savegames. It stores game data and savegames in a publicly writeable location, and works with a physical keyboard or virtual keyboard and touchscreen. It auto-saves when the app loses focus, and offers highly customizable touch controls and automatic in-game contextual shortcuts.

Controls are intuitive: swipe for directional movement, tap to confirm selections or pause, double-tap to cancel, pinch to zoom, and use the back button to toggle the virtual keyboard. Tips for a smooth experience include toggling software rendering if the game doesn't start, adjusting terminal size in graphics settings, and using a physical keyboard or an SSH-friendly virtual keyboard for the best experience. If touch commands are unresponsive, try disabling accessibility services.
