Conversations (Jabber / XMPP)

This application is a free and open source Jabber/XMPP client for Android, designed to be easy to use, reliable, and battery friendly. It offers built-in support for images, group chats, and location sharing, with end-to-end encryption enabled by default. It connects to all modern Jabber, XMPP, and Snikket servers, ensuring broad compatibility.

The client prioritizes security and privacy, featuring end-to-end encryption with OMEMO or OpenPGP, and encrypted audio and video calls using DTLS-SRTP. It includes advanced machine-in-the-middle detection via channel binding, which requires opt-in. Users can share their location, send voice messages, and react with emojis. The app also provides read receipts, high-resolution contact photos, and synchronization with desktop clients like Gajim and Dino.

With an intuitive interface that follows Android design guidelines, including Material Design 3 with Dynamic Colors, the app offers a seamless user experience. It supports private group chats and public conferences with bookmarks, message moderation for admins, address book integration, and multiple accounts with a unified inbox. The design principles emphasize beauty, ease of use, security, and privacy, without requiring a Google account or Firebase Cloud Messaging, and with minimal permissions.
