PlayStation emulator with high performance
DuckStation is a simulator and emulator of the Sony PlayStation console, focusing on playability, speed, and long-term maintainability. The goal is to be as accurate as possible while maintaining high performance. It requires a BIOS ROM image to start and play games, which is not provided for legal reasons. Games are also not provided, and it can only be used to play legally purchased and dumped games.
DuckStation supports cue, iso, img, ecm, mds, chd, and unencrypted PBP game images. Features include OpenGL, Vulkan and software rendering, upscaling, texture filtering, and true colour in hardware renderers. It also offers widescreen rendering in supported games without stretching, PGXP for geometry precision and texture correction, adaptive downsampling filter, post processing shader chains, and 60fps in PAL games where supported.
Additional features include per-game settings, support for up to 8 controllers with multitap, controller and keyboard binding with vibration, RetroAchievements, memory card editor, built-in patch code database, save states with preview screenshots, turbo speeds, emulated CPU overclocking, runahead and rewind, and controller layout editing. DuckStation supports both 32-bit and 64-bit ARM, and 64-bit x86 devices, but hardware requirements can be moderate due to its accuracy.
For optimal performance, a 1.5GHz CPU is recommended, especially for 32-bit ARM devices. An external controller requires button and stick mapping in settings. A game compatibility list is available online. This app is provided under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives International License.
