FM Synthesizer [SynprezFM II]

SynprezFM 2 is a powerful polyphonic synthesizer that brings the classic sounds of Frequency Modulation to your Android device. With a multitouch dynamic keyboard, arpeggiator, and a library of 1024 built-in patches, this app offers a vast sonic palette. It can emulate classic instruments, produce analog-style pads, or create entirely new crystalline sounds, all through the efficient mixing of sine waves controlled by envelopes and LFOs.

For those seeking authentic vintage tones, SynprezFM 2 doubles as a Yamaha DX7 emulator, accurately rendering sysex files you upload from your device's storage. You can also craft your own unique patches, either by editing existing ones or starting from a blank init voice. The app supports WAV recording, MIDI keyboard connectivity via USB or Bluetooth, and includes a step sequencer for creating rhythmic patterns.

An optimized layout ensures that even small screens can handle two synthesizers, while an expert mode provides access to advanced features like the patch editor and micro-tuning. While playing, you can trigger after-touch vibrato by dragging on the keys, shift octaves, and adjust performance parameters such as portamento and sensitivity. Effects add depth, especially through headphones, and polyphony can be adjusted to match your device's capabilities, with up to 16 channels sounding simultaneously on mid-range hardware.

Recent updates have fixed numerous bugs, added a pseudo compressor for louder output, and improved MIDI support for a wider range of controllers. Storage access has been rewritten for Android 11+, and Bluetooth MIDI, MIDI slave mode, and support for multiple keyboards are now included. Finer volume and balance controls are wired to MIDI, and the interface now features drop-down menus with a pseudo-LCD style, plus a peak indicator on VU meters.
