Ledger Report: A 1947 Story

The Ledger Report is a turn-based narrative strategy game about the stock market, trade, and family fortune in post-Independence India. You follow five interwoven lives between 1947 and 1965, each with their own story and choices. There is no leveling up, no energy timers, and no pay-to-win mechanics. Every turn presents a paragraph to read and a decision to make, and each choice affects the three numbers that determine your character's legacy.

The game features five protagonists, each with a unique perspective. Arjun, a broker's son in Bombay, confronts his father's past. Leela, a Cochin auditor's daughter, excels at reading balance sheets. Rahim, a Kashmiri customs clerk, knows the secrets of the Banihal Pass. Amrita, a Jodhpur heiress, holds a hidden second ledger. Wansuk, from the Khasi hills, faces the commodification of his people's commons. Their stories are all free, and none of them end the same way.

Historical events, such as Gandhi's assassination and the 1962 war with China, fire mid-campaign and rewrite your ledger in unexpected ways. Choices are permanent, with no save scumming or rewinding. The game also includes a hidden Truth stat that, once crossed, changes how the world is displayed and unlocks unique endings. The hand-painted oil-on-canvas art style brings the era to life, with a distinct painting for every ending you reach.

A full run with one protagonist lasts 90 minutes to two hours, and the complete experience, including the optional finale, The Account, can be finished over a weekend. The game is finite by design, with no ads, subscriptions, or account requirements. An optional one-time purchase unlocks the final story, where Inspector Imtiaz Sayeed investigates the Bhandari empire, and your previous choices shape the outcome. This is a game about a young nation, five lives, and one ledger that records it all.
